Hemophilia Center Releases Study Data on Menorrhagia in Adolescent Patients - A team from Mary M. Gooley Hemophilia Center / Lipsom Blood and Cancer Center in Rochester, New York, recently published the results of a study to determine the incidence of hemostasis disorders among adolescent girls referred for unusually heavy and prolonged menstral bleeding (menorrhagia). After conducting a retrospective, medical record review of 61 consecutive adolescent women with menorrhagia, ages 11-19, researchers found that 22 (36%) were diagnosed with von Willebrand disease (VWD), and four (7%) with a platelet function disorder (PFD) and one patient with both. Overall, more than 40% of patients referred to the center had an underlying hemostasis disorder, further confirming the prevalence of these conditions nationwide and the need for more / additional screening among this population. The study, "The Prevalence of Disporders of Haemostasis in Adolescents with Menorrhagia Referred to a Haemophilia Treatment Center" was published in the September 2007 issue of Haemophilia.

Contrast Staining - Pancolonic Indigo Carmine dye spraying comes up a clear favourite for the detection of dysplasia in ulcerative colitis. In a recent article published in Gut 2004;53:256-260, the use of Indigo Carmine and Chromendoscopy is discussed relating to the above procedure. In its "DISCUSSION", this paper suggests that "careful mucosal examination aided by pancolonic chromendoscopy and targeted biopsies of suspicious lesions may be more effective surveillance methodology than taking non-targeted biopsies".

IC-GREEN - The challenges of the manufacturing site transfer have been overcome and IC-GREEN (Indocyanine Green) is now available again. Abp wishes to apologize for any inconvenience caused by this interruption in supply. Place your orders without delay.
